American President
"Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member
of congress. But I repeat myself."
-quoted in A.B. Paine's Mark Twain: A Biography (Harper, 1912, Vol. 2, page
724)
As our economy collapses, President Bush cheers. He says globalization is the way to go and seems blind to the disaster he's brought to the nation his countrymen hold dear.
Bush seems to be a terrorist of his own. Our states are closing hospitals and clinics, shutting down homeless shelters, and schools are cutting back on programs and laying off staff one by one. Jobs are becoming scarce as they are shared with those who come to our home.
Why must the children, sick, and needy pay for our president's deeds? Once a rich, thriving nation now being brought to its knees.
What shall happen to my people as more illegal immigrants come day by day and corporations take them at cheaper pay? Taking from the American is not the way.
Globalization has brought nothing but sorrow to our own. What we need is an American president, proud and true to fight for our homeless and children, and a president to protect our hospitals and clinics too. What we need is an American president.
