Corruption in America

Cleansing

Today I am told we have a "cleansing" going on in Yugoslavia. Here in America we have our own cleansing which our government would deny.

There is a Baptist church in Buena Park, California that gives shelter to the homeless and, before the neighbors put a stop to it, held Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings. Many people in the neighborhood did everything they could to shut it down. The police would constantly harass the minister who is trying to keep the shelter going. Why? Because of the cleansing.

The police constantly harass those who live in motels who are, in their eyes, low-life and need to be cleansed. For example, as a 17-year-old boy was walking his bicycle out of a motel a police officer eating breakfast next door spotted him, assumed he stole the bike, and immediately jumped the boy and wrestled him to the ground. The boy was screaming for help when his mother ran to him and demanded that he be released. She later called the Police Department and complained about the abuse. They said, "What do you expect? You know we are trying to clean up the neighborhood."

This same mother’s 14-year-old daughter was terrorized on her way home from school by a man chasing her with a knife in his hand. Her mother, again, called the police who’s only reply was, "There was no crime committed." The mother even knew where the man lived. Nothing was done or said to him.

To me, this man’s actions was an outright threat to do bodily harm, and in my book, that is a crime. This child may be a motel dweller, but she is still an innocent child and shouldn’t have to put up with such harassment.

I get harassed because of the way I look driving an old vehicle. I’ve been pulled over twice in the past week on my way to work. My shift starts at 5:00 a.m. I’m out on the road at 4:30. According to the police, a driver in an old vehicle at 4:30 a.m. must be a suspect. They pull me over, run a make on me, the report comes back clean. I hear the officer say, "Are you sure? Are you sure?" I must be wanted for something.

I believe this cleansing is largely responsible for the ever increasing rate of street violence and attacks on public grounds such as our schools and government agencies. The American people are being stripped of their self-esteem and live with a constant feeling of hopelessness that keeps the violence coming back. This is their way of crying out for help, and until someone listens it will just happen again and again.
