Corruption in America

America's government constantly reminds us of our color by forcing us into categories, which keeps the fire of hate burning. We're called African-American, Chinese-American and so on. Grouping us this way keeps us from uniting and seeing each other as equals.
Americans, there is a vast difference between nationality and heritage. Your nationality is where you were born and your heritage is your family's origin.
I read in the Los Angeles Times ("Multicultural California," 12/17/01, B1) how Richard Choi Bertsch says he wishes well-meaning Americans would stop complimenting him on how good his English is. He was born here in Los Angeles. His nationality is American and his heritage is half-German and half-Korean. When people ask him, "Where are you from?" he says L.A. They say, "But where do you really come from?" Well, take a good guess, Americans, this man is 100 percent American.
I constantly see reports of fighting and bloodshed over color. Our government says we are united today, but I don't see it. We will never find peace if we go on like this. Americans, let's put an end to racism and come together as one people.
