Corruption in America

Heart

I see a lot of animosity toward the Chinese people today because of diplomatic problems that resulted from an air collision between a Chinese fighter and an American surveillance plane. A Chinese pilot was killed

I felt the same way until the motel I’m living at, Anaheim National Inn (Anaheim, California), that is owned by Chinese, had a fire on a rainy night last week.

As the other residents and I gathered in the parking lot, the fire trucks arrived and the Red Cross came and led us across the street to a parking lot where we stood in the rain for several hours. While standing there, I noticed that in the mothers’ haste to clothe their children, they dressed themselves in only blue jeans and T-shirts and no shoes and socks. We expected the Red Cross to put up a tent for us and give us something warm to drink, but the only immediate attention we received was bags of potato chips and water.

Less than one hour after we evacuated the building, I saw a man coming from the motel with some blankets. He was one of the Chinese managers.

I watched as he approached the children first and put blankets on them, and then went back for more to give the mothers. As I watched this kindness, a warm feeling came over me. I thought, such kind people to think of the women and children.

I was one of the lucky ones who got to go back to my room. The morning after the fire, I went to the office and the motel owner apologized profusely and asked me to stay. He said he would rebuild.

The Chinese are warm and caring people and I’m happy to have such good friends. Thank you, China.
