I just read an article on black history. The headline reads, "Parents: White Teacher Should Not Teach Black History." It seems the concern is that no white teacher is as capable as a black teacher in giving a realistic view of black history, particularly the circumstances surrounding slavery.

To me that's a case of discrimination. How can blacks throw a blanket on all white teachers and say they can't teach black history. I realize that there are white teachers that might misinterpret the truth behind slavery, but unless a white teacher exhibits a lack of understanding, I think it is an insult to not allow them to teach black history.

My other concern is if we keep bringing up new racial issues, it will only keep the fire of hate burning and we will see more riots like in Watts, California and Benton Harbor, Michigan.
